Eventing says goodbye to a Legend of a Horse – Mbulelo

Yesterday we said goodbye to one of SA’s greatest event horses – Mbulelo was bred by Summerhill Stud by Requiem out of a All Fired Up mare Fidelity Bond. Although he was sold for R600k Bully ( as he was known) decided racing was not his scene and was bought by Martin Taylor at the Shongweni horse in training sale – subsequently he was bought by Heidi Caine who loved him from the moment she sat on him and a great partnership was formed – he and Heidi won SA Eventing Champs twice, Gauteng and KZN Champs three times each and the Nations Cup four times – he had his little quirks like trying to escape from his stable and not eating at shows but once he was saddled up and ready to enter the arena he was all business and a horse with a huge heart – in his later years Heidi passed him onto a young rider Tessa Strachan whom he looked after and won all the events he was entered in – RIP Bully you will always be remembered – our condolences to Heidi, Robert his groom and Tessa
