Officials Skills Development Opportunity – Western Cape
Cape Horse Shows are holding an FEI show in September 2026, and many of our South African FEI officials will be present.
This is an ideal opportunity to have on-site learning sessions about what to look for in XC Course Design with our FEI Course Designer, Jackie Peskens.
· FRIDAY 18th Sept, ± 15h00 (Depending on Dressage times)
· A ±2 hr. Course walk to discuss the XC courses as built (the
Official Course walk will be on the Thursday), with plenty of time for Jackie to explain the challenges, design criteria, and for attendees to ask questions,
· SATURDAY 19th Sept (± 1 hr. after end of XC Phase)
· A further ±2hr Course walk AFTER the XC with a printout of the
XC scores, so everyone can discuss what exactly happened vs what they expected?
This is obviously aimed at our Course Designers/ builders, but would be of great benefit to all TD’s, Ground Jury, Event Judges and XC judges, whether Learner, Provincial or National, as well.
All Officials will benefit from being able to discuss issues with their peers and other officials in a practical environment.
This was originally planned for our WC Officials, but I feel it would be a great value to open it up to anyone from other provinces who would like to attend?
This is, obviously, at no cost, but we would appreciate it if participants who are not already officials at the show, would be willing to Jump Judge the more challenging jumps for the XC Phase!
